VPRS 5330 Indexes To Judgements

This series was used by the Prothonotary's Office of the Supreme Court to register the action number of civil cases in the Court in which a civil trial or default judgement was made.Each page is divided into columns which record the name of the defendant, the name of the plaintiff and the action number. No other information is recorded.Prior to 1852, the action number recorded within the first two books of this series can be used to find an entry within VPRS 5331, Judgement Book.From 1852, the action number can be used to to find information pertaining to the action in VPRS 5328 Action/Cause Books. Documentation relating to the action, including a copy of the judgement may be found in VPRS 267, Civil Case Files.This series does not record judgements made in criminal cases. These were recorded in VPRS 78, Criminal Record Book.
