Data from: Heterogeneity in leaf tannin inducibility across woody and non-woody plants: a meta-analysis

This dataset was compiled for a systematic review and multilevel meta-analysis on leaf tannin inducibility following herbivory or experimentally simulated damage, with an explicit focus on differences between woody and non-woody plants. The unit of observation is a treatment–control comparison extracted from the primary literature: each row corresponds to one independent effect size quantified as the log response ratio, lnRR = ln(Mean_treatment / Mean_control), where lnRR > 0 indicates induced increases in leaf tannins and lnRR < 0 indicates decreases. The spreadsheet contains 513 effect sizes extracted from 73 peer-reviewed studies, spanning 78 plant species, including 367 woody and 146 non-woody comparisons. The dataset supports full reproducibility of the manuscript’s multilevel REML meta-analytic models, heterogeneity partitioning, moderator analyses, and can be reused for extended syntheses and sensitivity checks.
