资源简介:
This dataset comprises six-hourly Jenkinson-Collison Weather Type (JC-WT) classification time series from up to 41 distinct Global Climate Models (GCMs) covering the periods: a) 2006-2100 for CMIP5 GCMs and b) 2015-2100 for CMIP6 GCMs, under their most extreme forcing experiments (Representative Concentration Pathways 8.5 for CMIP5 and Shared Socioeconomic Pathways 5-8.5 for CMIP6). The JC-WT classification method (Jenkinson and Collison, 1977) is an automation of the Lamb Weather Type (Lamb, 1972), originally developed for the British Isles, and thanks to these efforts, the JC-WTs can, in principle, be applied to any mid-to-high latitude region in both hemispheres of the globe (Jones, 2013; Fernández-Granja et al., 2023). The JC-WT time series are provided on a 2.5º regular latitude-longitude grid covering the zonal belt between 30º and 70º North and South.
The different files are named folliwing this structure: JCWT_[Experiment]_[GCM-name]_[model-run]_[forcing_scenario]_[start.year]_[end.year].nc
These files contains JC-WT classifications for the GCMs' future simulations. Complementary and compatible datasets for the historical simulations of GCMs (1979-2005 for CMIP5 and 1979-2014 for CMIP6) have been published in these Zenodo repositories, having the same properties:
JC-WT historical Northern Hemisphere (Brands, 2022): https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.8113174
JC-WT historical Southern Hemisphere (Brands et al., 2023): https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7872012
Thus, a comprehensive dataset spanning from 1979 to 2100 can be created by concatenating the aforementioned data with the files from this repository.
