RugbyScope: a Transfer-Oriented Rugby Union Database

RugbyScope is a database aiming at describing rugby union players, teams, and stints. It is based on the combination of data coming from 7 sources: Wikidata: a knowledge base manually populated by its users; DBpedia: a knowledge base automatically populated based on Wikipedia and other sources; Five language versions of Wikipedia: English, French, Italian, Japanese, Spanish. More particularly the infoboxes. This database is the object of data paper, currently under review: V. Labatut & D. The source code that implements the retrieval and cleaning of the data available from these sources is freely available on GitHub, as a collection of Python and R scripts gathered in the RugbyScope repository. The original data sources exhibit various level of complementarity and of conflicting information. We try to solve these issues automatically, but a part of the process had to be conducted manually, as documented in our source code. Database.
