As an important clonal invasive weed, Sphagneticola trilobata dominates and affects both land and water. Understanding the molecular association between invasive plant defense and invasiveness are vital important, because many non-native organisms outperform in new ranges than natives. We used Illumina sequencing technology to analyze the leaf transcriptome of Sphagneticola trilobata inoculated with a generalist necrotroph Rhizoctonia solani.This is the first study describing the transcriptome analysis of Sphagneticola trilobata against a widespread pathogen and could be the valuable resource for further molecular and functional analysis. This report may also enable to investigate the molecular basis of invasive plant-natural enemy or pathogen interactions in association with plant invasion.
