Metabarcoding analysis of microbial compositions in mouse feces and gut microbiota-derived EVs

We propose an isolation strategy based on a broad-spectrum antimicrobial epsilon-poly-L-lysine to precipitate bacterial extracellular vesicles (BEVs) from mouse fecal supernatant. Then, we used a mouse model of depression to evaluate the suitability of the new method as a tool for biomarker discovery. We characterized BEVs isolated by the new method and ultracentrifugation through 16S rRNA gene sequencing, facilitating a comparison with corresponding stool samples.
