Transcriptome and metabolome analysis of the post-hatch broiler chicken

RNA sequencing of chicken hepatic tissue for combined transcriptome and metabolome analysis of liver over the first 20 days post hatch. Fresh liver tissue was collected at nine time points from a modern chicken meat type (broiler) line: Ross708. RNA-seq data and metabolome data was generated to support an integrated approach mapping the relations between gene and metabolic products and characterizing metabolic reprogramming in the liver over the time period. This tissue was chosen because of its central role in metabolism and its importance to overall growth of animals. These efforts will make significant contributions to understanding the relations between the chicken genome and metabolic phenotypes.
