VPRS 12207 Register of Loans to Local Water Works

The Local Governing Bodies Loan Act 1872, and subsequently the Water Supply Loans Act 1883 made funds available from The Railway Loan Account for loans to municipalities or water corporations within Victoria. Funds from the loans were to be used to develop water supply systems within each municipality.This series consists of a register of all loans established under these Acts, and a ledger of repayments made by municipality or water corporation. For each loan the following information is recorded:Name of borrower (municipality or water corp.)Amount borrowedActs under which loan was madeDate approved by Legislative AssemblyRates of InterestDates when loan is payableRegistered correspondence numbersLedger of ongoing loan repayments, including date of payment, amount of payment, and outstanding balance.Correspondence relating to these loans can be found in VPRS 1207 General Correspondence Files, Annual Single Number System.
