Genome-wide transcriptome analysis of the transition from primary to secondary stem development in tobacco using RNA-seq

Tobacco plants have been used as a model system for the testing of new procedures and in research on the function of specific genes. They have the advantage of facile transformation of selected genotypes, short generation times. Yet little is understood about its genes involved in secondary growth, so next generation sequencing methods could solve the problem.
