Overexpression of Sucrose Synthase in Pinellia ternata

Pinelliae Rhizoma is the dried tuber of Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Breit and an important bulk Chinese Materia Medica that is always in short supply. High temperature is the primary stress threatening P. ternata production that remains be addressed. In the present study, the short-term heat-responsive sucrose synthase gene PtSUS1 was identified via genome-wide analysis and functionally characterized through overexpression in both Arabidopsis and P. ternata. Furthermore, its mechanism of action was explored through a comparative transcriptomic analysis.
