Genomic characterization of mobile genetic elements in a collection of Egyptian Pseudomonas aeruginosa clinical isolates

Given the significance of P. aeruginosa infections in Egypt, this study aimed at the investigation of the underlying genomic profiles of 89 P. aeruginosa clinical isolates obtained from Alexandria Main University Hospital, Alexandria, Egypt. Specifically, we focused on the determination of sequence types and serotyping as well as the characterization of CRISPR-Cas systems, prophages and IS elements among the studied genomes. In addition to pan-genome analysis of the collected isolates, phylogenetic analysis was conducted to explore the evolutionary relationship between the isolates under investigation and the reference strain PAO1
