Wyong River Catchment Floodplain Risk Management Study & Plan Report

The following report forms the Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan for the Wyong River Catchment. The report is presented in two volumes:\r\nVolume 1 (this document) contains the report text and appendices; and,\r\nVolume 2 (separate A3 document) contains all complementary maps/figures.\r\n\r\nVolume 1 has been divided into the following sections:\r\n\r\nSection 2 - Background Information: Provides general information regarding the\r\ncatchment, including the history of flooding as well as existing planning and emergency response protocols\r\n\r\nSection 3 – The Existing Flood Risk: Describes the current impact of flooding on the\r\ncommunity for a range of different floods. This includes an assessment of the impact of flooding on key facilities, the potential cost of flooding as well as the potential for\r\nfloodwater to damage buildings and/or pose a danger to personal safety.\r\n\r\nSection 4 – Current Planning Measures: summarises the main legislation, policy and\r\nguidelines that affect the development of land.\r\n\r\nSection 5 – Current Emergency Management Protocols: provides an overview of\r\nemergency management measures that are currently implemented across the\r\ncatchment to assist in managing the flood risk. Opportunities to improve these existing protocols are also discussed.\r\n\r\nSections 6 to 9: discusses the merits of a range of flood, property and response\r\nmodification measures that could be potentially implemented to manage the existing,\r\nfuture and continuing flood risk across the catchment\r\n\r\nSection 10 – Draft Floodplain Risk Management Plan: provides a preferred list of options that are considered appropriate for adoption by Council to manage the flood risk.
