Charge density wave response to the onset of superconductivity in 2H-TaSe2

The study of charge density wave (CDW) materials is one of the most intriguing areas of modern solid state physics, since CDW often appears close to superconductivity (SC). Here, we propose to reveal the response of CDW order to the onset of superconductivity in 2H-TaSe2 by measuring the temperature dependence of the CDW superlattice peaks in 2H-TaSe2 at temperatures above and below Tsc. The presence (or absence) of a SC induced effect on the intensities of the CDW superlattice peaks will provide essential information on the phase competition in this CDW reference material and can serve as basis for the interpretation of more complex materials such as metallic kagome materials and copper-oxide superconductors.
