Farmed algae production volume in China 1980-2022

In 2022, the production volume of algae in aquaculture in China was estimated at around 22.5 million metric tons live weight. The most common type of farmed algae are seaweeds. Algae are mainly farmed in marine or coastal aquaculture. Inland aquaculture in China contributed only around 100,100 tons of algae production in 2022.
