Sociolospatial analysis of Prešern Square in Ljubljana

The purpose of this research was to analyze the public reaction of local residents at the public presentation of Prešernov trg project in Ljubljana 1988. The key action of the renewal project was the expected building of a fountain in the heart of the Prešeren's square. But because of the symbolic attachments and the significant identity of inner city space, the project launched many turbulent reactions. Most of the remarks were resolutely against expected rearrangement. Discourse analysis showed up the diversity of symbolic and identity importance and relation to the city space. Besides that the analysis also showed the critical remarks toward the fragile society disapproving any changes.
