The biofloc technology system added carbon sources to stimulate bacterial growth and heterotrophic ammonia nitrogen uptake through the production of microbial proteins. However, the different organic carbon sources caused dissimilarities in the aspects of microbial abundance and diversity This study aimed to examine the effect of different carbon sources (e.g. glucose, molasses, PBS, and PHBV) on ammonia nitrogen removal pathways and microbial diversity in ex-situ biofloc systems. The microbial community can be quickly and accurately by DNA identified extraction and amplification of the 16S rRNA gene through the Illumina MiSeq sequencing technique.
