Siti preistorici e protostorici del territorio di Grottaminarda (AV): documentazione e inquadramento topografico

The sector of the Irpinia territory bordered to the north and east by the Úfita River, corresponding to the Municipality of Grottaminarda (AV), is rich in archaeological evidence dating from Prehistory to the Middle Age. This contribution focuses on the prehistoric and protohistoric sites identified during systematic archaeological surveys. Some of them were unknown, while other sites were only documented in 1980 by the collecting of materials now preserved in the Antiquarium "Filippo Buonopane" of Grottaminarda. The contextualization of these settlements, also through the use of historical and recent aerial photographs, and their reading in relation to the evidence known in the surrounding territory make it possible to enrich the knowledge of the population in this sector of the eastern Irpinia during the prehistoric and protohistoric times.
