Gut microbiota of wild rodents (Neotoma albigula) on a no or high oxalate diet

In order to determine the impact of dietary oxalate on the gut microbiota, we fed animals either a no or high oxalate diet (paired samples). Stool was collected from the animals and processed through shotgun metagenomics. The resulting data was used as input for assembly, genomic binning, scaffolding, and gap filling algorithms to produce complete, draft genomes. Genomes were used to determine which specific bacteria harbored genes stimulated or inhibited by dietary oxalate.
