Number of employed people in Denmark 2023, by industry and gender

The public administration industry, including the education and health sector, employs the largest number of people in Denmark. Moreover, there are significantly more women than men employed within this industry. In 2023, there were 657,000 female and 287,000 male employees working here. On the other hand, most of the other industries had a higher number of male employees, among them trade and transport as well as manufacturing, mining and quarrying, and utility services.
