HRWP Average Family Biotic Index (FBI) Ratings for Benthic Invertebrates_baseline

The Family Biotic Index (FBI) was used to assess the health of the BMI community at RWMP sites in the Humber River in the baseline period (2003-2012). The FBI evaluates the presence and abundance of benthic invertebrate species collected in a sample to provide an estimate of the overall community health, where values scale from 0-3.75 (‘excellent quality’), 3.76-4.25 (‘very good’), 4.26-5.00 (‘good’), 5.01-5.75 (‘fair’), 5.76-6.5 (‘fairly poor’), 6.51-7.25 (‘poor’) to 7.26-10 (‘very poor’).
