This cross-sectional clinical study aimed to investigate the correlation between hTAS2R38 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and halitosis. 136 volunteers were included in the study, and 61/136 with a diagnosis of halitosis. The recruited subjects were further divided into PAV/PAV(n=71), PAV/AVI(n=53), AVI/AVI(n=12) genotype groups based on hTAS2R38 SNP sequencing. The oral microbiome of the recruited subjects was analyzed by 16S rRNA sequencing. Our work demonstrates that hTAS2R38 SNP can alter oral microbiome and contribute to the development halitosis.
