Hippocampus is among the tau pathology most affected brain regions in Alzheimer's disease (AD). This study aims to compare spatially resolved gene expression of healthy (Ctr) vs Alzheimer's (AD) hippocampus tissue slides.We used the Visium Spatial Transcriptomic (ST) solution (10x Genomics) to visualize gene expression in topographically defined hippocampus regions. Hippocampus is a brain region allowing the study of tau pathology vulnerable CA1 and CA2 sub-regions as well as the tau pathology resilient CA3, CA4, and DG, all visible on the same tissue slide. The relevance of the approach is its suitability to identify either specific vulnerability factors in sub-regions that selectively develop tau pathology or resiliant factors in the tau pathology resilient sub-regions.
