资源简介:
The prevalence of Candida glabrata healthcare-associated infections is on the rise worldwide and this does not spare Lebanon. These infections are difficult to treat since Candida glabrata are intrinsically resistant to azole antifungals, particularly to fluconazole. In addition, they can exhibit virulence characteristics such as an increased biofilm biomass. The first goal of this study is to evaluate the reason behind the increase in virulence of Candida glabrata hospital isolates by focusing on adhesion and biofilm formation. The second goal of this study is to identify the mechanisms of azole resistance at play in Candida glabrata hospital isolates.
