We report that the canonical WNT pathway is upregulated in the proximal epithelium of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Our data were obtained by using redifferentiated airway epithelium in air/liquid interface, and sequencing the transcriptional activity of components of the WNT signalling pathway Overall design: Analysis of WNT transcriptional activity in 47 patients (9 non smoker controls, 10 smoker controls, 9 mild COPD patients, 10 moderate COPD patients and 9 severe to very severe COPD patients)
