IDENTIFICATION AND AMS RADIOCARBON DATING OF SAMPLES FROM THE SAN PEDRO DAM SITE, VALDIVIA, CHILE

A total of eleven samples from geologic trenches at the San Pedro Dam Site in Valdivia, Chile, were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated. A total of seven radiocarbon dates were obtained on charcoal from these samples.研究人员对采集自智利瓦尔迪维亚圣佩德罗大坝遗址地质探槽的11份样本，采用浮选法回收适用于放射性碳分析（radiocarbon analysis）的有机碎屑。研究人员对样本中的植物组分与碎屑炭进行了鉴定，并分离出具备放射性碳测年潜力的材料。基于上述样本中的炭质材料，共计获得7组放射性碳测年数据。
