The vascular endothelium responds dynamically to shear stress from blood flow. Atheroprone flow, simulated by oscillatory shear stress (OS), induces oxidative stress in endothelial cells (ECs), leading to dysfunction and atherosclerosis. This project explores how OS-induced miR-483 to 8OH-G miR-483 transversion causes EC dysfunction and alters mRNA targetomes, contributing to disease progression. Key aims include: 1) Understanding the molecular mechanisms behind this transversion's impact on EC function. 2) Investigating its role in atherosclerosis in mice.
