This project aimed to discover the genomic basis of rapid wood decay by the dry rot fungus Serpula lacrymans, an economically important fungus found in the built environment. To this end, a comparative transcriptomic analysis of wood decay on pine or spruce shavings vs. a sucrose control was implemented to compare the moderate decayer Serpula himantioides with the rapid decayers Serpula lacrymans vars. lacrymans and shastensis.
