Characterizing the gut microbiome in Parkinson's disease: an NGRC study

In Parkinson's disease (PD), gastrointestinal features are common and often precede the motor signs. To explore the association of gut microbiota with PD, we sequenced 16S rRNA V4 amplicons in 840 individuals (524 PD and 316 controls). Sequences and metadata are provided here, organized as two datasets because they differ in geographical origin of the participants, were collected at different times, were sequenced in different laboratories, and differed in sequencing depth. Dataset 1 was collected in 2014 in Seattle, WA, Albany, NY, and Atlanta, GA; dataset 2 was collected in 2015-2017 in Birmingham, AL. This study was conducted by NeuroGenetics Research Consortium (NGRC).
