Environmental Regulation- Groundwater Protection Areas

Around the water extraction area are the groundwater protection areas with water pumped up between 1 and 25 years. Seventy percent of our drinking water is extracted from groundwater. It is therefore important to avoid contamination of groundwater. There are therefore requirements for the direct and indirect discharge of dangerous substances to or into the soil. The province and its partners strive to protect groundwater as a source for drinking water supply. The update plan was adopted by Provincial States on 31 March 2021, the date of entry into force is 16 April 2021.
