资源简介:

Stable isotopes of δ13C and δ15N and fatty acids were used as trophic biomarkers to study the structure of benthopelagic deep-sea food webs along a latitudinal gradient in the Scotia Sea. These analyses were performed in the muscle of specimens captured in commercial longlines during toothfish (Dissostichus spp.) fishing seasons at South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and from the stomach of predators such as both Patagonian (D. eleginoides) and Antarctic (D. mawsoni) toothfish. This dataset is divided into two spreadsheets, one including the stable isotopic analyses (δ13C and δ15N values) and one including the concentration of 23 fatty acids analysed in this study. Not all individuals analysed in stable isotopes were used in fatty acids. Sample_id in both documents refer to one individual, i.e. the same sample_id in both documents indicates that it is the same specimen being analysed. Both dataset include the sample_id, study area (South Georgia, South Sandwich Islands - North, and South Sandwich Islands - South), the species name (or taxa) and the respective values obtained in the analyses. This dataset is associated with the research paper: Queirós JP, Belchier M, Abreu J, Bustamante P, Collins MA, Gonçalves AMM, Bermúdez-Gutiérrez I, Stowasser G, Vaz D, Hollyman PR, Xavier JC (2025) Benthopelagic deep-sea food webs along a latitudinal gradient in the Scotia Sea (Southern Ocean).
