Data for Analysis of All Antarctic and Antarctic Theory Publications 1959-2025 (Chown et al. 2026 PTRSA)

This is the data from an analysis of Antarctic research outputs compared with those just focussed on theory, published by Chown et al. 2026 in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A. Counts of Antarctic research (Scopus-10-Antlit-1959-2025.csv) were obtained from Scopus via Monash University Library Services on 12/06/2026 using the search terms: TITLE-ABS-KEY ( ( antarc* AND NOT ( candida OR "except antarctica" OR "not antarctica" OR "other than antarctica" ) ) OR transantarctic OR "ross sea" OR "amundsen sea" OR "weddell sea" OR "southern ocean" ) AND PUBYEAR > 1958 AND PUBYEAR < 2026. Counts of theory-related Antarctic research (Scopus-10-Antlit-Theory-1959-2025.csv) were obtained from Scopus via Monash University Library Services on 12/06/2026 using the search terms: TITLE-ABS-KEY ( ( antarc* AND NOT ( candida OR "except antarctica" OR "not antarctica" OR "other than antarctica" ) ) OR transantarctic OR "ross sea" OR "amundsen sea" OR "weddell sea" OR "southern ocean" ) AND TITLE-ABS-KEY ( theory OR theories OR theoretical OR theorise OR theorem OR "fundamental principles" ) AND PUBYEAR > 1958 AND PUBYEAR < 2026 These counts were compiled into a single csv file (Antlitchange), with corrected counts (Countcor) being the total count minus the theory count to ensure the two sets of counts are independent.
