VT2f-producing VTEC were thought to be adapted to pigeons but their isolation from patients with diarrhoea has recently questioned this assumption. We compared the whole genome of VT2f-producing VTEC from three HUS cases with that of VT2f-producing VTEC from human cases of diarrhea and the pigeon reservoir.
