Genetic analysis and transcriptome analysis of the mini mutant of the silkworm, Bombyx mori

The mini mutant was much smaller than the wildtype silkworm in the same growth stage and began to die after about 25 days after hatching. Transcriptome analysis showed that the DEGs including some genes in metabolic pathways, cuticular protein genes, serine-related and so on might affect the growth and development of silkworms. Further analysis indicated that some genes including enzyme genes, juvenile hormone and molting hormone, exhibited different levels involved in the growth and metabolism.
