PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester heat-fusible fiber for papermaking， that can obtain a polyester fiber paper with excellent compactness. SOLUTION: The polyester based heat-fusible fiber is provided that is composed of a copolyester resin having a melting point of 250°C or less， and has a birefringence of 0.05 or less， a specific gravity of 1.37 or less， and a calorific value of 0.5 to 10 J/g associated with cold crystallization (crystallization at elevated temperature) in a temperature range of 40 to 180°C by differential scanning calorimetry.
