: A tailor-made low-cost filtration module was implemented into a synthesis robot to perform automated sampling during precipitation polymerizations enabling direct gas chromatography (GC) analysis without further manual postprocessing. This procedure enables for the first time the automated kinetic investigations of such polymerizations performed in synthesis platforms. Furthermore, a custom-developed computational workflow was created to automate the processing of raw chromatographic data and derive reaction conversion profiles. For this purpose, a standard needle was modified to fit onto a syringe filter. A rack was designed to hold the vial with a syringe filter attached to it. A spring was utilized to enable a tight fixation of the needle, and a metal block was placed above the rack to ensure safe removal of the needle. In order to validate the new setup, in total six polymerizations were performed. Three each were purified with automated filtration directly after sampling and manual filtration of all 20 samples at the end of the reaction. In comparison, the automated sampling process was highly reproducible and more accurate than the manual filtration approach highlighting the benefit of automated workflows for polymer science and chemistry.
