This concept set contains a single code pertaining to birth weight. There was an interest in examining the effect of birth weight/low birth weight across a number of PRESERVE sub-studies or manuscripts. However, data quality analyses indicated high missingness for this clinical concept. This was not a high priority variable for PRESERVE. Given these considerations, birth weight is not included in final analyses. This LOINC code was selected by the PRESERVE Coordinating Center. Note: Representing birth weight exclusively with this LOINC code is specific to the PRESERVE study. It is anticipated that the main PEDSnet and PCORnet databases use a greater range of codes. This concept set should not be used in non-PRESERVE studies without substantial updates.
