Tasmannia lanceolata isolate:RefF3 Genome sequencing

Tasmannia lanceolata (mountain pepper) has long been used by Indigenous Australian communities as a condiment and herbal medicine. Recently, it has begun attracting attention as a native superfood, due to the high concentration of bioactive compounds, particularly polyphenols, found in its leaves and berries as a product of the plant's unique secondary metabolism. We have sequenced and assembled a draft genome to aid our current investigation into how gene regulation leads to the enhanced biosynthesis of these superfood compounds by cataloguing gene expression across leaf and berry tissues over the course of development.
