This study investigate the genetic basis of small colony variant phenotypic switching in Staphylococcus aureus.Three isolates have been sequenced for this study: the original S. aureus NRS384 wild type isolate (NRS384-WT), the reconstructed rifampicin resistant mutant NRS384-rpoB-H481N normal colony variant (NRS384-rpoB-H481N-NCV) and the small colony variant of the same rpoB mutant (NRS384-rpoB-H481N-SCV).
