Barriers to Participant Recruitment and Retention: A Researcher's Prospective

The dataset was derived from a cross-sectional survey conducted among researchers affiliated with a large research-intensive university in the southeastern United States. The survey was distributed to 9,613 individuals listed in the university’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) database. A total of 150 researchers responded, yielding both quantitative and qualitative data. The dataset includes: Demographic information of respondents (e.g., race/ethnicity, academic role) Closed-ended responses assessing perceived barriers to participant recruitment and retention across diverse populations Open-ended responses providing narrative insights into recruitment challenges and proposed strategies The data collection occurred in 2024 and was designed to inform institutional and research strategies for enhancing diversity and inclusion in research participation.本数据集源自一项针对美国东南部一所大型研究型大学附属科研人员开展的横断面调查。本次调查向该校机构审查委员会（Institutional Review Board, IRB）数据库中登记的9613名人员发放问卷，最终共有150名科研人员完成回复，由此获取定量与定性两类研究数据。 本数据集涵盖以下内容： 1. 受访者的人口统计学信息，包括种族/民族、学术岗位等； 2. 封闭式问卷结果，用于评估面向不同人群开展受试者招募与留存工作所感知到的障碍； 3. 开放式问卷结果，可为招募工作面临的挑战及拟推行的应对策略提供叙事性洞察。 本次数据采集工作于2024年完成，其设计初衷是为优化科研参与中的多样性与包容性提供制度与研究层面的策略参考。
