Neurosci. doi: 10.3389/fnins.2020.00079In order to run the Matlab codes, you have add the folder "matlab codes" with its subfolder to the current path in Matlab.The subfolder contains codes and functions that are called from the main codes. Codes generate the figures shown in the paper as well as statistics.All codes assume Windows as OS.All datafolders are compressed. Please unpack first.You also have to copy all "data" folders to a directory and change the "cd" or "load" functions in the codes as needed.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Folder data_behavior_ChirpStats:-> stimuli_chirps.mat* Chirp stimuli used in the study.Subfolder varAMP; varDUR:-> individual fish responses to the chirp stimuli used:* Chirps that are elicited with a beat only present. This data is used to calculate the raw chirp statistics.* Echo responses to natural electrocommunication signals with varying parameters duration (Dt) and amplitude (Df).Datasets are extracted and sorted and can be readily used with the matlab the following'analysis_behavior_stats_chirpVARS.m'Folder data_periphery / data_model / data_hindbrain:-> [EAs_amplitude.mat; EAs_duration.mat];[model_amplitude.mat; model_duration.mat];[ELL_amplitude.mat; ELL_duration.mat]* Preprocessed datasets for periphery (EAs); model (EA model) and hindbrain (ELL)-> These files contain the values for detectability and invariance for each individual neuron / pair for different chirp durations and amplitudes.-> NeuronType.mat* Contains cell classification ID (ON vs OFF type pyramidal neurons).Datasets can be analysed with MatLab code:'analysis_neuronal_chirpVARS.m'
