PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regulate elongation of a veneer in a direction crossing a fiber direction and to suppress crack of the veneer due to said elongation even in a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A laminated veneer 20 is formed in such a manner that veneers 2A, 2B are laminated to a prescribed height so that fiber directions are orthogonal to each other alternately, and the laminated veneer 20 is compressed in a lamination direction by a compression apparatus 8, thereby dehydrating the content of each veneer 2A, 2B. A wood such as the veneers 2A, 2B has a tensile strength in a direction same as the fiber direction which is larger than a tensile strength in a direction orthogonal to the fiber direction. Consequently, even if a pressure that is intended to expand and deform each veneer 2A, 2B in the direction orthogonal to the fiber direction acts on each veneer 2A, 2B in association with compression of the laminated veneer 20 in the lamination direction, elongation deformation of the veneers 2A, 2B in the direction orthogonal to the fiber direction is suppressed by a relatively tough tensile strength in the direction same as the fiber direction of respective veneers 2A, 2B between which frictional force occurs.
