N-replete transcriptome of nri1 mutant

Nitrogen starvation rapidly induces the expression of genes involved in nitrogen assimilation. To investigate the molecular mechanisms of nitrogen starvation responses, mutants defective for nitrogen starvation-induced gene expression were isolated in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. nitrogen replete insensitive 1 (nri1) mutant showed constitutive expression of nitrogen assimilation genes regardless of nitrogen conditions. RNA-seq was used to catalog the NRI1-regulated genes by comparing genome-wide gene expressions of nri1 mutant and its complemented strain nri1C-1.
