The purpose of the survey among 1260 students of higher education institutions who choose the profession of teacher was to identify topical issues of preparing future teachers for professional career development. The survey collected data on the importance of various aspects of professional development, career planning, self-presentation, use of digital technologies, psychological readiness for change, as well as the need for internships and leadership skills.
The results showed that students pay the most attention to the development of pedagogical skills, digital competencies, as well as psychological and communication skills. Practical experience and familiarity with modern educational trends, such as STEM education and inclusive education, play an important role in the training of future teachers. In addition, a significant number of respondents expressed a desire to acquire additional skills in career planning and digital platforms for professional development.
In terms of practical experience, students expressed interest in internships that allow them to gain real work experience in the educational process and prepare for changes in their profession. The overwhelming majority of respondents plan to continue their studies or upgrade their qualifications after graduation.
These results indicate the need to develop specialised courses that will focus on the development of comprehensive professional skills of future teachers and prepare them for a successful career in a changing educational environment.
