A large family of myophages that putatively infect the SAR11 clade has been retrieved by mining aquatic metagenomes. A total of 13 complete genomes (and 13 nearly complete) covered a wide range of genomic diversity that likely infect different subclades of this large clade of aquatic bacteria, including some specific of the freshwater genus Fonsibacter or the deep ocean dwelling phylogroup Ic.
