The SCADA system collects data from a Traction Sub-Station (25kV) it has paramaeters like Voltage, Current, Real power, Reactive Power and Power factor for both up and down lines. A SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system is commonly used in traction systems for various modes of transportation, such as trains, trams, and subways. These systems help in monitoring and controlling the traction system's critical components to ensure safe and efficient operations. Monitoring and Control: The primary function of a SCADA system in a traction system is to monitor and control various components, including Traction Substations: SCADA systems monitor the status of traction substations, which supply power to the trains or trams. Operators can remotely control these substations to adjust power supply as needed.Overhead Lines or Third Rails: The system can monitor the condition of overhead lines or third rails, which provide electrical power to the vehicles. It can detect faults or issues and respond accordingly.Switches and Signals: SCADA systems monitor track switches and signals, allowing operators to control their positions and ensure safe routing for trains.Vehicle Position and Speed: They track the location and speed of trains in real-time using sensors, allowing operators to manage schedules and respond to emergencies.Energy Management: SCADA systems optimize energy consumption by managing power distribution and regenerative braking, helping reduce energy costs and environmental impact.
