资源简介:
The Lost Note: Mysticism, Music, and the Theology of Harmonic Disruption   Throughout history, music has been understood as more than just an art form—it has been seen as a divine language, a reflection of cosmic order, and a pathway to spiritual transcendence. But what if something in this grand symphony of creation is missing? What if there is a “lost note”—a sound that has been silenced, hidden, or yet to be revealed?   This groundbreaking exploration bridges theology, music theory, mysticism, and eschatology, uncovering how a single forbidden or missing note has shaped Christian thought. From the medieval fear of the tritone (“diabolus in musica”) to the mystical power of silence in Christian spirituality, this study reveals how dissonance, disruption, and absence function as deep theological metaphors for the Fall, redemption, and the restoration of divine harmony.   Could there be a note beyond human hearing, waiting to be revealed in the new creation? Might heaven’s “new song” (Revelation 14:3) contain frequencies and harmonies beyond our current perception? Could silence itself be the missing note—God’s voice beyond sound?   With insights from Augustine, Boethius, Meister Eckhart, Jeremy Begbie, David Bentley Hart, and Olivier Messiaen, this study invites you on a journey through the dissonance of sin, the tension of divine absence, and the eschatological resolution of all things into perfect harmony.
