Porosity is closely related to the accretion and thermal evolution of ordinary chondrite parent bodies. Mezö-Madaras and Bath Furnace represent different petrologic types and thus different temperature and pressure conditions during formation. The samples come from the meteorite collection of the Finnish Museum of Natural History, University of Helsinki. To reveal the varying porosity structures, Mezö-Madaras (5.2 cm3, 5.2 vol% bulk porosity) and Bath Furnace (7.9 cm3, 10.9 vol% bulk porosity) were imaged using high-resolution synchrotron radiation microtomography. The voxel edge length of the images is 0.65 µm.
