Subacute toxic exposure of sanguinarine to rats and effects of intestinal flora (PRJCA031423)

Sanguinarine is an isoquinoline alkaloid with various biological activities. At present, it is mainly used as growth-promoting medicine and biological pesticide preparation in animal husbandry production. The exposure risk of sanguinarine increased with the increase of dosage. Therefore, we conducted acute and subacute exposure assessments of sanguinarine in rats and concomitant toxicokinetic studies. Considering that sanguinarine acts primarily in the gut, we paid additional attention to its effects on the gut flora in the event of toxic reactions.
