R and ArcPy code for the analysis of archaeological survey geospatial data in the West Area of Samos Archaeological Project (WASAP)

This deposit contains R and ArcPy code used in the analysis of archaeological geospatial survey data from the West Area of Samos Archaeological Project (WASAP). The folder 'code' contains three sub-folders relating to three specific project workflows: 1) drawing annotated point shapefiles to estimate the location of diagnostic pottery collected in the field [R code only]; 2) drawing annotated line and polygon shapefiles to represent walkerlines and transects (tracts) investigated in the field [R code and ArcPy]; 3) calculating the visibility- and user-corrected statistics from the raw counts of pottery found in the field [R code only]. These code snippets can be used to analyse field data deposited on Zenodo from the same archaeological project (https://zenodo.org/records/14929961). For the workflow of drawing annotated line and polygon shapefiles, additional 'modified field files' are included in this deposit. These files replicate the format in which raw data arrived from the field during the WASAP field season, while the above-mentioned data deposit contains information in a more cleaned data presentation format. Modified walker and leader CSV files are included; a reference grid is included as a shapefile polygon. A full explanation and account of the above workflows is currently in preparation for publication.
