We investigated whether having chocolate had a differential effect depending on the time of the day (in the morning or at night) on body weight, body fat distribution, substrate oxidation, circadian-related variables and microbiota. Women were randomized to have 100g of chocolate in the morning 1h after waking time (MC), at night 1h before bed time (EC and no chocolate (N); they were instructed to follow each intervention for 2 weeks with 1-week washout, and to eat ad libitum any other food.
